SNYACC Recognizes Western Visayas Leg Special Awardees
The ‘Top 8-year old-and-under’ Award went to 6-year-old Adrian de Luna (front row, 4th from left) of Buenavista Central School - Iloilo who landed a score of 7 pts and 39.5 Bucholz points. Renalyn Moleño (front row, 2nd from right) of Barrio Obrero National High School received the ‘Sportsmanship Award’ for displaying the values of fair play and maturity during the two-day chess tournament. Meanwhile, the ‘Youngest Player Award’ went to 5-year old Jan Khrisna Dev Salvilla (front row, 2nd from left) of Baptist Center Christian School - Iloilo.
Having 32 participants was Central Philippine University (CPU) – Iloilo who won the ‘School Most Represented” award in the Kiddies division received by a CPU student (front row, extreme right), while John B. Lacson Foundation Marine University with George Naquita (back row, 2nd from right) receiving the trophy brought 29 participants earning them the ‘School Most Represented’ title in the Juniors division.
Presenting the awards were (back row, extreme left) Iloilo Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias, (back row, 2nd from left) Shell Iloilo Dealer Winston Santos, and (back row, extreme right) Pilipinas Shell Lapus, Iloilo Terminal Manager Dante Gandionco.
Shell Active Chess is an annual programme of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation which supports the empowerment of the Filipino youth, in line with the company’s commitment to sustainable development.
It is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, and supported by Shell V-Power, Shellane, Shell Helix, and McDonald's, in partnership with SM Supermalls, Cagayan Colleges Tuguegarao, Central Philippine University Iloilo, University of San Carlos Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro City Tourism.
