Environment & Society
Contributing to sustainable development is integral to the way we do business. As we work to help meet the world’s growing energy needs, we aim to share benefits with local communities and reduce impacts of our operations, including managing carbon dioxide emissions. We look after our people. Our core values of honesty, integrity and respect for people have been laid out in the Shell General Business Principles for nearly 40 years.
We supply energy to help support economic growth and development. We work with communities near to our operations to address concerns and share the benefits of our operations, upholding our reputation and protecting our business.
We began reporting voluntarily on our environmental performance with the first Shell Sustainability Report that covered 1997. We do it to be open and honest, and to show how we are contributing to sustainable development. The Shell Sustainability Report 2014, published April 10, 2015, is our 18th report.
