Shell Eco-marathon exhibit stops at Mapua

With just months away from the much-anticipated Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) Asia set on July 8-10, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation and the SEM participating schools Don Bosco Technical College, Mapua Institute of Technology and University of Santo Tomas are all eager to heavily promote the competition and elicit support from the public.

To achieve this goal, a series of SEM exhibitions has been plotted to create noise among the public. Mapua Institute of Technology in Intramuros, Manila was the first stop of the SEM exhibit, which featured the Fuel Economy Simulator, a state of the art simulation machine, of which there are only six in the world, that aims to help its users practice Shell’s Fuel Economy tips in a controlled environment before actually practicing it on the road.

A Fuels Technician explained the scores to the participants of the challenge and described the profile of their driving performance to get a better idea of driving techniques and habits they may improve on. The purpose of Fuel Economy Simulator is consistent with SEM Asia’s aim of furthering fuel saving and fuel efficiency.

The SEM booth attracted almost a hundred students, all enthusiastic to see if they are fuel-efficient drivers.
