Under this law, all oil companies in the Philippines were mandated by the government to blend 1% biodiesel by volume into all diesel fuels sold in the country beginning May 2007. The National Biofuels Board (NBB), which was created in support of the implementation of the Biofuels Act, determined the feasibility of increasing the minimum percentage to 2% biodiesel blend by volume within two years of effectivity of the Act. As a result, oil companies were mandated to sell 2% biodiesel blend in all diesel fuels effective February 2009.
