  • 07/09/2010 Shell Active Chess Davao Draws Largest Player Turnout

    The Davao leg of the Shell National Youth Active Chess (Shell Active Chess), the last of the eight-stage circuit, has already attracted 500 participants early on in the registration, reaching its maximum field of players and making it the largest participation from among the various host provinces of the competition across the country.

    In the recently concluded Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Western Visayas Leg, Karen Joy Anoran (front row, 3rd from left) of West Negros University and Shiela Khan Sepanton (front row, extreme left) of Central Philippine University – Iloilo bagged the ‘Top Female Player’ Award for Kiddies and Juniors division respectively. Anoran scored 7.5 pts while Sepanton finished off with 6 pts.

    Lyster Franz Andador (front row, middle) of Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School – Negros Occ. swept a perfect score of 9 points and 50 Bucholz points to rule the Kiddies Division during the recently concluded 18th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Western Visayas Leg at Central Philippine University - Iloilo gymnasium.

    Douglas Diego Perez (front row, middle) of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation - Bacolod outwitted the Juniors division squad during the recently concluded 18th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Western Visayas Leg at Central Philippine University - Iloilo gymnasium. Perez garnered a score of 7.5 points and 41.5 Bucholz points.

  • 11/08/2010 Cagayan De Oro Stages Shell Active Chess 7th Leg

    Cagayan de Oro hosts the first of two Mindanao legs of the Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship (Shell Active Chess) on September 11-12. A maximum field of 500 is open for interested players to vie for top honours in the kiddies and juniors divisions. Mindanao is the last stop of the eight-stage nationwide circuit of Shell Active Chess.

    Cebu takes its turn to host the 2010 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship on Aug. 28-29 when it stages the sixth leg at the University of San Carlos-North Campus gymnasium in Gen. Maxilom Ave. Cebu City.

  • 11/08/2010 Shell Chess Resumes Aug. 14-15 in Iloilo

    The search for new chess stars in the 2010 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship heads to the Visayas on Aug. 14-15 as Iloilo hosts the Western Visayas leg with a maximum field of 500 disputing the crowns in the juniors and kiddies divisions.

  • 05/08/2010 SNYACC - Naga Special Awardees

    In the recently concluded Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Southern Luzon Leg - Naga, Marie Antoinette San Diego of The First Uniting Christian School – Cavite and Grace Ann Faith Cain of Living Heritage Academy – School of Tomorrow bagged the ‘Top Female Player’ Award for Kiddies and Juniors division respectively. San Diego scored 7.5 pts and 55 Bucholz while Cain finished off with 5 pts and 37 Bucholz. The ‘Top 8-year old-and-under’ Award went to Peverline Cardama of Salvacion Baybay Elementary School – Camarines Sur who landed a score of 6 pts and 55 Bucholz points. Ma. Athena Legaspi of Ateneo de Naga University received the ‘Sportsmanship Award’ for displaying the values of fair play and maturity during the two-day chess tournament. Meanwhile, the ‘Youngest Player Award’ went to 3-year old Daniel Zamora. Having 55 participants was Carolina Elementary School – Naga City represented by chess coach Rose Reyta who won the ‘School Most Represented” award in the Kiddies division, while Ateneo de Naga University with receiving the trophy brought 33 participants earning them the ‘School Most Represented’ title in the Juniors division.

    Former Far Eastern University (FEU) student Jose Carlo Castro and Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Richelieu Salcedo III emerged as leg champions in the Kiddies and Juniors division respectively during the recently concluded 18th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Southern Luzon Leg at SM City Naga.

  • 20/07/2010 SNYACC Recognizes Northern Luzon Leg Special Awardees

    In the recently concluded Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Northern Luzon Leg, Luanne Accad of Enrile North Central School and Armida Guillermo of Cagayan Colleges Tuguegarao bagged the ‘Top Female Player’ Award for Kiddies and Juniors division respectively. Enrile scored 6.5 pts while Guillermo finished off with 5 pts. The ‘Top 8-year old-and-under’ Award went to 7-year-old Stephen Rome Pangilinan of Christian Ecclesiastical School – Bulacan who landed a perfect score of 9 pts and 54.5 Bucholz points and was also the leg champion in the Kiddies division. Marfred Sanchez of Cagayan State University received the ‘Sportsmanship Award’ for displaying the values of fair play and maturity during the two-day chess tournament. Meanwhile, the ‘Youngest Player Award’ went to 5-year old Vinz Alfred Joaquin Guitering of Dodan Elementary School – Penablanca, Cagayan. Having 29 participants was Baybayog Elementary School represented by Leonardo Molina who won the ‘School Most Represented” award in the Kiddies division, while Cagayan State University with Jesus Anastacio receiving the trophy brought 14 participants earning them the ‘School Most Represented’ title in the Juniors division.
