    Shell companies in the Philippines (SciP) bagged three awards in the 2008 Philippine Quill Awards organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines. All of Shell’s entries won awards for its quality of communications strategy and effectiveness of implementation.

    Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation commended the Philippines’ youngest grandmaster Wesley So for winning gold in the recently concluded World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad in Mersin, Turkey, wherein Shell served as one of So’s supporters. For the second time, So came out as champion in the said tournament.

    Iloilo Central Elementary School student Diomel John Escutin (front row, right) emerged as the strongest contender in the Top-8-year-old and Under category of the 16th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship – Western Visayas Leg (Iloilo City) held recently at the SM City Iloilo. Escutin completed the seven-round Swiss system tournament with 6 points and 29 Bucholz points, landing on the 11th spot.
