Shell companies in the Philippines (SciP) bagged three awards in the 2008 Philippine Quill Awards organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines. All of Shell’s entries won awards for its quality of communications strategy and effectiveness of implementation.

Nine-year old Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano of Southwestern University - Cebu received the “Art Borjal Award” being the youngest finalist in the 2008 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Grand Finals at SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City on November 8-9, 2008.

Registration for the Davao leg of the Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship is ongoing, with the event slated on September 13-14 at SM City Davao. The two-day tournament serves as the final leg of the seven-stage nationwide series.

The Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship resumes on August 30-31 with the staging of the sixth leg at the SM City Iloilo with another stellar field expected to see action. The seven-round Swiss system tournament serves as the sixth of seven legs spread over key cities in the provinces in Pilipinas Shell’s continuing effort to discover talents who could be trained and developed into world-class players.

The Shell National Youth Active Chess Championships unveils its 2008 season next month with another eight-leg circuit spread over key cities nationwide, including Naga City, which makes its return to the annual tournament after several years of absence and where chess has a big following.
