  • 27/11/2009 Business Leaders Support Hiv/Aids Prevention And Control Program In The Workplace

    The HIV/AIDS situation in the Philippines is described to be “hidden and growing” by the Department of Health (DOH). This is a result of the rising concern on the increasing number of HIV infection cases recorded each month. As of August 2009, there are more than 4,000 cases of HIV positive individuals in the Philippines, growing steadily since 1984 when the first AIDS case was reported in the country. Recent data from the National Epidemiology Center (NEC) shows a disturbing trend of two new HIV cases per day, compared to one new case per day in 2007 and one new case every three days in 2000.

    Effective 12:01 am today, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) rolled back the prices of diesel by P2.00 per litre, unleaded premium gasoline by P1.25 per litre, regular gasoline by P0.85 per litre and kerosene by P1.50 per litre in compliance with Executive Order No. 839 which directs oil industry players to maintain prices of petroleum products prevailing on 15th October 2009.

    Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) is pleased to advise that the OECD Dutch National Contact Point (NCP) concluded today that the PSPC facility, Pandacan oil depot, in Manila is safe and that health and safety are in accordance with international standards, such as those in the EU and USA. The Dutch NCP recently completed a review of the PSPC facility and issued its Final Statement.

This price adjustment reflects last week’s surge in international oil prices, which moved in tandem with stronger global financial markets, implying a possible recovery in oil demand.

    Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (Shell) announced that it has implemented upward adjustments of P1.50 per litre on gasoline, diesel and kerosene effective 12:01am today. This price adjustment reflects last week’s surge in international oil prices, which moved together with global equities market on initial signs that the world economy (primarily US) has turned the corner, implying a possible recovery in oil demand. The peso also experienced some weakening over the past week, compared to the previous week.

    Shell companies in the Philippines would like to warn staff and the public on recurring incidents involving the fraudulent recruitment of organisations on behalf of Shell or an affiliate company of a job placement or an employment offer from a Shell company. Normally, the message contains details informing the recipient that he/she has been appointed to work with the company and a review of the resume/CV and an online interview of contacted expatriates has been made. It also contains the job details, remuneration package including allowances and medical and health insurances, employee assistance programme, and long-term disability benefits, tuition fee reimbursement, and family status arrangements among others.

  • 12/03/2009 An Open Reply to COPW regarding inaccurate statements on Oil Issues

    Consumer and Oil Price Watch (COPW) published an advertisement last Feb 17, 2009, claiming that the Oil companies have not been transparent and fair in oil pricing and that the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have been “passive in the performance of their regulatory functions”. The ad has been followed by a letter to Sec. Gonzales of the DOJ dated 26th Feb, supported by another advert, where COPW reiterated his earlier claims and advising oil companies on what they should do - from data submission, oil pricing and even when to purchase crude oil.
