Shell Hails Youth Organizations In The Country

23/01/2009

Shell companies in the Philippines (SciP) joined the TAYO Awards Foundation, Inc., Office of Senator Francis Pangilinan and the National Youth Commission in honouring the most successful youth organizations in the country with the 6th Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards.

The TAYO Awards is hailed as the country's leading search for outstanding groups of young Filipinos who lead simple, worthwhile and notable projects implemented in their respective communities. It is open to all youth groups, organizations, clubs and societies whose membership and leadership are composed of at least 15 members who are 15 to 30 years old.

The National Youth Commission carefully shortlisted 40 project entries by conducting thorough research and interviews from a total of 80 entries that underwent field validation.  A panel of distinguished jurors from government agencies and corporate industries chose the top 20 projects that made a great impact towards the development and improvement of the community.  From this pool emerged the TAYO Awardees.

Consistent with Shell’s thrust of empowering the Filipino Youth, Shell accorded a Special Award on Sustainable Development to Lamlifew 4-H Club of Sitio Lamlifew, Datal Tampal in Malungon, Sarangani Province for their commitment to sustainability by promoting a local food sufficiency project in the community with emphasis on the cultural heritage sustainability of Sarangani Province.  The Lamlifew 4-H Club of Saranggani Province was also chosen as one of the TAYO Awardees.
