Community Activities
Through the decades, true to its commitment to give high regard for the health, safety, security, and environment of the communities in which it operates, Shell Pandacan has regularly initiated sustainable programs for its neighbours.
| 16-19 May 2005 - Seventy kids aged 8 to 16 years old from barangays 833 and 834 participated in the Caritas Compound, Pandacan, Manila. PSFI partnered with FULLHOUSE School of Performance and Creative Arts, Inc. to conduct classes on watercolor painting and pastel painting. The PSFI scholars of the Animation Skills Development Course also volunteered to conduct courses on basic drawing and sketching. |
| 10 May 2005 - The Barangay officials and representatives of the barangay basketball youth league were very appreciative of the basketballs and uniforms they received from Shell Pandacan for their summer youth activities and sports league. |
| 9 May 2005 - The PSFI Basic Cosmetology graduates conducted a “Libreng Gupit sa Pandacan” held at the Linear Park to showcase their skills. They gave free hair cuts to 80 barangay residents. The week-long training in cosmetology was in partnership with Splash Foundation, Inc. and was participated in by 27 female youth and mothers from barangays 830, 833, and 834. The Basic Cosmetology Course includes modules on female/male hair cutting, hair perm, hot oil, manicure, and pedicure. |
| 22 April 2005 – Shell Pandacan Installation supported the Earth Day 2005 celebration by joining the annual Pasig River Fluvial Parade. Barangay Chairmen of 833 and 834 rode the boat with the Shell Pandacan staff. |
| 6-9 April 2005 – Pandacan joined the 146 youths who participated in the Youth Business Camp at the Shell Malaya Refinery, Pililia, Rizal. Themed “Kilos Kabataan, Negosyo Para sa Kinabukasan,” the camp introduced the low-income youth from local communities to the world of business and entrepreneurship by teaching them the rudiments of identifying, operating, and managing their own small businesses. |

| 26-27 October 2004 – An “Iwas Dengue” (Prevention of Dengue) Campaign was conducted, in cooperation with Baygon, in the houses of Barangays 833 and 834. |

| 1 October 2004 – The Social Performance team of Pandacan Installation organized a Drug Awareness Seminar that was participated in by the youth of barangays 833, 834, and students from CP Garcia High School. |

| 24 September 2004 – The Department of Energy (DOE) in cooperation with Pilipinas Shell conducted the “Swak sa Tipid” Basketball Exhibition for the Pandacan community in the Shell linear park basketball court. This initiative is in line with the government’s campaign to conserve energy. Players from Shell’s PBA team, the Shell Turbo Chargers, participated in the event. |

| 10 August 2004 – Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. (PSFI) in cooperation with the Social Performance team of Pandacan, conducted a Multi-Sectoral Engagement to consult the different institutions such as the academe, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and barangay officials for possible tie-ups for the community programs of PSFI. |

| 30 July 2004 – Graduation of the Industrial Instrumentation Course under the Community Skills Upgrading Program of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. conducted by I & E Industrial System Services Inc. The program provides semi-skilled individuals with technical and practical knowledge and skills on electrical and instrumentation. |

| 29 June 2004 – An Emergency Management Workshop was held with the Barangay Disaster Coordinating Councils (BDCCs) of Bgys. 830, 833, and 834 as a follow-up of the Disaster Management Seminar conducted last May 2004 at the Caritas Auditorium in Pandacan. |

| 04 December 2003 - awarding ceremony of the SUHAY held by Pilipinas Shell Foundation at the Caritas Hall in Pandacan. Four SUHAY groups were awarded checks to loan for their members for the establishment of livelihood projects and financial assistance. |

| 10 October 2003 - Pilipinas Shell Foundation launched the Community Skills Upgrading (CSU) Program for 15 out-of-school youths in Pandacan. I&E Systems, Inc. will be conducting a course in Industrial Instrumentation at the Shell Pandacan Installation. |

| 20 September 2003 - Pasig River Clean Up is an annual cleanup activity done by Shell in cooperation with its neighbouring communities. This activity was also undertaken with the Sagip Pasig Movement, the Presidential Security Group (PSG), the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Philippine Coastguard. |
