I have Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD), a rare condition affecting one in every 200,000 people, which means I don’t have thigh bones, so I’m shorter than most people.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EYet I never let it define me. In fact, it pushed me to excel. At school, I strived for perfection, putting pressure on myself to never make mistakes. That mindset shifted when I joined Shell.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI’d heard of Shell but never thought someone like me – a Person With a Disability (PWD) – could work here. Then my mother’s friend, who worked at the company, told me about the inclusive culture and strong support for employees with disabilities. I hadn’t imagined an energy company could be so open and accessible. The pressure to be perfect crept back in. But Shell’s culture is different. My team was welcoming and supportive. They introduced me to the learner mindset – a core part of Shell’s leadership principles. I learned that it’s okay not to know everything. It’s okay to ask questions. Growth matters more than perfection. Yet we don’t just work hard, we also have fun.
