Shell Recharge has signed a MOA with the Department of Energy to conduct a pilot study of electric vehicle charging. The pilot project involves supplying, installing, operating, and maintaining EVCs, and monitoring and verifying energy efficiency, performance, and savings.
Opening of Shell Recharge
Pilipinas Shell has opened its first Shell Recharge site in Shell SLEX Mamplasan as a response to the country’s growing demand for Electronic Vehicles (EVs). The site boasts of currently the most powerful DC high performance fast charge located along Philippine Expressways.
Shell Memorandum of Agreement with DOE
One of Shell’s key initiatives in the EV space is the tripartite MOA they recently signed with the Philippines’ Department of Energy and Shell Energy Philippines--Shell’s power trading & marketing arm about a pilot study on the use of Renewable Energy for EV Charging stations.
The key components of the study would include the supply, installation and operation of the planned EVCs, as well as the monitoring and verification of energy efficiency, performance, and savings through the use of renewable energy, and optimization of the use of cleaner energy.
The output of the project will be used as a reference in developing programs, policies, and regulations for the sustainable and safe adaption and operation of EVCS involving the use of renewable energy. Data from the study will also serve as a benchmark for PSPC and SEPH to develop and roll out EVC networks in its existing and future mobility sites.
