In line with the observance of the 46th Fire Prevention Month, Shell companies in the Philippines partnered with the Bureau of Fire Protection in its advocacy of promoting fire safety in the community. The partnership was marked by the signing of the BFP-Shell Fire Safety Initiative Memorandum of Agreement which jumpstarts the series of safety trainings, programs and fire drills to be conducted in Shell’s network of terminals, retail sites and corporate offices.
“Safety is at the heart of Shell’s operations. Every year, Shell propagates the importance of safety to its employees, customers and stakeholders,” said Arsenio Isidro, Shell’s Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Manager. “Life is precious and the most valuable asset above all. Shell supports the Bureau of Fire Protection’s annual ‘Fire Prevention Month’ as our way of demonstrating our safety principles, by keeping our people and property protected from potentially harmful incidents that may occur.”
Hon. Feliciano “Sonny” R. Belmonte, Jr., Speaker of the House of Representatives and guest of honour at the Kick-Off Ceremonies of the 46th Fire Prevention Month, emphasized the importance of cooperation in achieving fire safety and for preventing destructive fires.
“We wish to thank Pilipinas Shell, and all the other institutions that are as equally concerned and civic-minded enough to want to help, and other participants from the private sector, for your support to the BFP and in the larger effort to combat fire before its outbreak,” Belmonte enthused. “Through joint efforts, we hope that our summer this year and the rest of the year will see less fire, more luck, and prosperity for our beloved country. Fire safety is up to us.”
