Shell bagged four Anvils from the most prestigious award-giving in the local public relations industry, rising above more than 300 entries in the competition.
The 46th Shell National Students Art Competition, the longest-running art contest in the country focused on student artists, received an Anvil Award of Excellence in Arts and Culture for sustained public relations programmes. Through a stringent competition process complemented with valuable interaction with renowned Filipino art masters, Pilipinas Shell continues to hone young talents in the craft and keep visual arts relevant in youth development and nation-building.
Further focusing on educating young minds, this time with road safety as the theme, Project KALSADA (Kabataang Ligtas sa Sakuna at Disgrasya) also received an Anvil Award of Excellence in the Youth and Children’s Welfare category.
Project KALSADA is Shell’s Road Safety Program for kindergarten, elementary and high school students of schools located along the roads in the Tabangao to Libjo area, as well Batangas City proper, which are traversed by lorry trucks to and from the Shell Refinery and the Malampaya On-shore Gas Plant in Barangay Tabangao, Batangas.
The success of this road safety programme in Batangas has led to the reduction of road safety incidents in the area and was replicated in Shell sites including Pandacan, Manila, Palawan, and Bacolod.
Meanwhile, the company-wide Shell campaign dubbed “I COMMIT. Think. Act. Work. With Integrity” received an Anvil Award of Merit in Good Governance for sustained public relations programmes. “I COMMIT” helped institute the values of personal and business integrity among all Shell staff in the Philippines. Last year, Shell was recognised by the Integrity Initiative of the Makati Business Club and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines as among seven companies in the country with the highest ratings in ethical business practices.
The Movement Against Malaria programme implemented by Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. also garnered an Anvil Award of Merit in External Communities, under the category of public relations programmes directed at specific stakeholders. The Global Fund-supported programme has now been implemented in 40 highly malaria-endemic provinces across the Philippines.
