More Than A Name, a Call to Action
Biyahero comes from the Filipino word for "traveler", and from the powerful idea "Be A Hero". The message is simple but meaningful: every road user has the ability – and responsibility – to protect lives through everyday choices. It’s about choosing to drive responsibly, respecting fellow road users, following traffic rules, staying alert, and looking out for the most vulnerable. Every safe decision, no matter how small, helps save lives.
Building Safer Behaviours Through Partnership
Shell works closely with local government units, schools, transport groups, and partners such as the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) to deliver credible, practical, and relevant road safety interventions. By collaborating across sectors, Shell Biyahero ensures that safety messages read diverse road users – from motorists and commuters to pedestrians and cyclists.
Keeping Professional Drivers Road Ready
Shell ensures that its contractors, including the lorry truck drivers undergo regular road safety and defensive driving trainings, equipping them with the skills to manage risks, avoid accidents, and operate responsibly on the road.
Lighting Roads, Protecting Lives
As part of the program, Shell supports the installation of solar-powered street lights in selected communities, helping illuminate dark roads and improve night-time visibility. One example of this initiative can be found in parts of Batangas, where solar lamps have been installed along key roads to help reduce accidents.
