About Project Shelter

For communities to progress, safety and security is essential. This is why Shell’s Project Shelter is here. It is a continuing effort to readily assist communities amidst natural calamities that our country is prone to experiencing.

Continuously Protecting Our Vulnerable Communities

The Philippines sits on the infamous Ring of Fire, a geographical area prone to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and monsoons. Due to the rains and low-pressure areas, heavy flooding can significantly affect the country, with an average of 20 typhoons hit every year.

Project Shelter is our continuous effort to prepare for such calamities. In the Philippines especially, a country no stranger to natural calamities, we are proactive with our efforts to plan properly for times our communities are in need of assistance.

With the help of Shell’s vast network, we are able to mobilize for assistance in times of need. Filipinos have a way to help their fellow countrymen with Shell’s accessible donation drop centers. With Project Shelter's proactive effort, we are able to reach out and immediately provide assistance to our countrymen in need of help.

Powering Progress Together

Understanding our communities is a vital part of improving life. When it comes to preparing for natural calamities, it is no different. We work closely with our communities, identifying problems and issues, and what we can do best in the event of a natural calamity. We also engage with local partners. This gives us a deeper understanding of natural calamity-related issues and better insights on how to approach them. To keep people safe and gather the resources for it, we collaborate with partners within Shell like the PSFI and PSPC; local government organizations; as well as NGOs.

The ‘bayanihan’ spirit is innate to Filipinos, an attitude of cooperating and helping each other out, for the greater good of the community. It is a philosophy we embrace, especially when it comes to preparing for natural calamities.

Partners in Preparedness

While nobody can completely predict the future, we study our communities to be able to provide efficient and rapid assistance in the event of a natural calamity. Project Shelter is all about being better prepared. To prepare for any calamity, long before it comes. With our resources, we empower our communities to take the necessary precautions.

Instead of reacting to unpredictable events at the last minute, we are proactive about finding solutions before the problems come. Holding donation drives before natural calamity is one example. It is a way for us to be a source of continuous support. So in times of safety, or natural calamity, life can continue peacefully and productively for our communities.
