Students as well as the general public are invited to witness and participate in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2015 to be held on February 26 to March 1 at the Rizal Park along Roxas Boulevard in Manila.

Over 120 teams of engineering students from 17 countries all over Asia—including the Philippines—will battle it out in their very own original eco-friendly car inventions, vying for the farthest distance travelled on the least amount of fuel.

These vehicles will also compete in other technical and design aspects of engineering excellence, along with other special off-track awards recognizing team spirit, camaraderie, communication and innovation.

The event will feature other activities and programs all geared toward promoting the advocacy of sustainable mobility especially among the youth.

This is the second consecutive year that the prestigious regional competition is hosted in Manila since its inception in 2010. Over 1,000 delegates and guests from abroad are expected to arrive in the country, with an estimated total of over 40,000 spectators. The country will play host to the Shell Eco-marathon Asia until 2016.

Attendance is free. Log on to shellecomarathon.ph/registration and use the entry code GP015 to get free tickets.

The event is organised by Shell in coordination with the city government of Manila and its local police and traffic agencies, and in partnership with the Department of Tourism, the National Parks Development Committee and sponsors such as the Manila Hotel and the Manila Ocean Park. ###
