  • Shell GO+ Donation Drive

Members of Shell Go+ can now extend help to frontline workers from the safety of their homes. By donating their points, cardholders can support “Ani para sa Bayani” and help finance a program that supports farmers in transporting and distributing their produce to various community kitchens that prepare meals for frontline workers.

“Ani para sa Bayani” is a program of the Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI). Working with various farming communities, PSFI facilitates the procurement and transportation of fruits and vegetables to be donated to community kitchens that prepare meals to feed frontline workers. The program both supports the livelihood of farmers, and helps ensure our frontline workers are properly nourished with healthy meals.

To support this effort, Shell Go+ is implementing a Points Donation Drive through its Loyalty Program for private vehicle segment/red cardholders. Points donated by cardholders will be used to help finance “Ani para sa Bayani”. With the Shell Go+ Points Donation Drive, cardholders can take part in the efforts to support our frontline workers and be assured that their loyalty points are being used for a worthy cause.

  • Shell Staff Pool Tips for TODA Relief

As close acquaintances to the local Tricycle Drivers Association (TODA), staff from Shell’s Doña Remedios Trinidad Highway station in Baliuag, Bulacan decided to celebrate last Easter by paying it forward to the community. They pooled more than ₱10,000 of their own tips to purchase relief goods for the tricycle drivers.

Led by one of the station’s office staff, Rose Musni, and station on-site-coach Grethelle Gallardo, the team decided to use the tips they earned from customers through air, water, and windshield services to purchase the donations. Other workers even donated their personal relief goods received from the government.

“Meron mas nangangailangan kaysa sa amin,” said Musni, who explained that the tips were originally intended for their staff outing and team building activities.

Gallardo added, “This must have been the greater reason why God led us to pool our tips instead of keeping it for ourselves.” Although the two came up with the idea, they both attribute the collective effort to the entire station staff.

  • Shell PH Terminals Shows #Covidcare to 6,000 indigent families

As part of its community efforts, T&S delivered relief goods to over 6000 indigent families from Pasacao, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Palawan, Iligan, Calapan, Bacolod, Anibong, and Masbate.

“ The relief coming from the government is not enough,” said Christopher Imperial, a resident of Pasacao, and one of the beneficiaries of the T&S programme. The enforcement of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) or community lockdown left the indigent families with limited options to sustain their daily needs, particularly food. This makes them more vulnerable and heavily reliant on social help. Realising the situation, T&S immediately mobilized its Terminals to purchase, repack, and timely deliver the relief goods. These include 3-5 kilos of rice, noodles, canned goods, coffee, and sugar. “That is why we are thankful to Shell, this is a big help for my family especially during the quarantine period.”

  • Malampaya Continues to Power Luzon

The Malampaya offshore platform and onshore gas plant are key installations to the nation’s energy security as it is the only local producer of indigenous natural gas. A joint undertaking of the Philippine national government and the private sector, the upstream extraction operation requires continuous manning all-year-round.

While the country copes with the impacts of the spread of COVID-19, the Malampaya deep-water gas-to-power project (Malampaya) continues to supply up to 40% of the power needs of Luzon in order to sustain the operations of hospitals and vital facilities says Shell Philippines Exploration B.V (SPEX), operator of Malampaya.

The enhanced community quarantine in Luzon and many other areas poses challenges to the mobility of the workforce, but SPEX worked closely with the Department of Energy to enable critical personnel to ferry to the offshore platform, as well as the needed materials and supplies to safely operate and maintain the facility.

“We’ve taken measures to ensure that we can keep the offshore platform and the onshore gas plant staffed even with the current, difficult circumstances,” said Don Paulino, SPEX Managing Director and General Manager. ”Our commitment to the country remains, our operations will work round-the-clock to produce Malampaya natural gas and power up to 40% of Luzon’s electricity.”
